Professor Caroline Jackson: Leading Archaeological Materials Research

Caroline Jackson, Ph.D., is a Professor of Archaeological Materials at the University of Sheffield’s School of History, Philosophy and Digital Humanities. She holds a PhD, Masters and Bachelor in Archaeological Sciences and focuses on the analysis of archaeological materials and the technologies of the ancient world.

She is interested in Roman and Ancient Egyptian material culture, the technology of ancient glass and experimental archaeology. She has served at the University of Toronto and Cardiff University, and has done fieldwork in Italy, Tunisia, Egypt, Croatia, Swaziland and the UK. She is still publishing groundbreaking research on the archaeological materials from Greece, France and North America in 2026.
